So what now? Makers completed!

Coming down from the excitement of celebrating the completion of the Makers course, I had grand plans of all the new things I wanted to learn and consolidate. But where to start? I had also wanted to record what I do everyday, albeit in a summarised format since I’d like to spend more time doing, instead of blabbing away here (for now…)

I spent the first day of freedom on Monday planning and thinking about what would be cool. I decided C# would be cool and had been something that I wanted to learn for a while given its versatility — it’d be great to have a better understanding of a static language.

Then I decided it’d be awesome if I could deploy my portfolio to my own domain and site.

We had our job hunting workshop with the Makers’ career team to learn what support is out there and keeping an eye out on those internal roles… ! There weren’t many to be frank, though it was interesting to hear about them. Following that, I did some C# and had a call with my mentor Tom, to tell him all about our final project. Sadly I couldn’t give him a live demo of the app because a Mac update yesterday broke Android Studio’s emulators aghh! Thankfully a kind soul found a temporary fix (bless his soul) so I wasn’t pulling my hair out wondering how I broke the emulator.

There was a lunch time talk with Ori today at Makers which was really interesting. They provide cloud solutions for developers and seems to be onto great things.

Feeling a little all over the place today as I practiced Javascript and read up on API and microservices. There is also talk of deploying our final team project to the App Store once we added a couple of additional features to it.

I really hope I can focus on a handful of things this week and make some headway on those rather than trying to do everything!
